What is Focal Embouchure Dystonia?
For musicians, their instrument is an extension of themselves. It allows them to express themself creatively and connect with audiences....
ABOUT JOURNAL SECTION
I sit here writing my first journal post, while sharing the photo above. It's a photo of the view from the stage at Benaroya Hall, home of the Seattle Symphony. Although I worked for the Seattle Symphony administration, I got the chance to play on stage with a local community orchestra.
I wanted to share this photo in hopes of inspiring others and remind them that progress is possible! There are ways to cope with this disorder and enjoy making music again. Although it may take adaptations, a great deal of experimentation, and lots of work, I truly believe it's possible to find a way to bring the love of playing music back into your life again.
I'll primarily be using this section to cover both information on focal embouchure dystonia as well as my own journey.
I hope you'll read along! Please look forward to many resources, highlights, self-reflections, and information being shared. This is a huge upgrade from my former blogger account, so I'm excited to get back to sharing my thoughts with you here.
